This small town in the province of Segovia is the site of a Royal Palace that contains a large collection of antiques, furniture and works of art.
Its formal reception halls open up to the gardens and there are many rooms with the original furnishings of the times when the King of Spain spent here the Summer season.
The palace is surrounded by some of the most beautiful formal gardens in Spain, with 15 large fountains and ponds that are run only on special occasions.
Many buildings in the town have been recently restored, there are many crafts shops, and artists and craftsmen have made this town their home.
There is a local stew that is made with large kidney beans and sausages and people travel especially to this town just to enjoy this dish. The town has about 6,000 inhabitants.
